We are discovering more and more cracks in the intake manifolds, directly before the throttle valve. This is where the engine can draw in false air. The engine inhales air in vacuum operation, which is not detected by the mass air flow sensor. As a result, the fuel mixture preparation no longer works correctly. This means that the fuel injection amount calculated by the control unit is too low for the amount of air being drawn in. This causes idle speed fluctuations and high lambda correction values. Often, a positive emissions test is no longer possible.
